She was born in Swiftown, MS. on October 9, 1938, to the union of Robert and Jessie Mae Gammage Sr. who both preceded her in death.
She was married on September 20, 1958, to Pervus Cornelius who preceded her in death. They had a son, Jeffery, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by four brothers, Robert (Marcia) Gammage Jr. of South Bend, IN; Carl (Brenda) Gammage of East Point, GA; Nyling Gammage of South Bend, IN, and Albert (Bertha) Gammage of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandchildren Laquita and Jeffery Comelius Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; and a host of nieces and nephews.
While living in Chicago she was employed for twenty-five years by Michael Reese Hospital. She returned to South Bend in 1985 and began employment with Devine Health Care in September 1992 as a nurse assistant until her passing.
Thelma will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and "Bulls Fan." She brought joy and happiness into the lives of those she came in contact with. Her memory will forever live in a special place in our hearts.
