Bill attended Angelo State University before joining the United States Army Airforce in WWII serving the China, Burma and India area as an armored gunner. In addition he was responsible for all the maintenance of guns and the bombardier scope while in flight.
After the war he was associated with his brother S. J. May in the construction business. Together they owned and operated May Brothers Lumber Bin, Town and Country Concrete and developed the Monticello Housing Addition in Sweetwater. Later He owned numerous rent properties.
On October 18 1951 Bill married the lovely Bettye Joe Brown a long time Sweetwater resident.
