Mildred Lorena May Andrews, 90, a resident of Bryan, Texas and formerly of Albany, Texas, died Saturday, November 28, 1998 in Bryan. Funeral services were held Monday, November 30 at the First Baptist Church of Albany with the Rev. John Tunnell officiating. Burial followed in Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Mrs. Andrews was born on October 4, 1908 in Rule, Texas. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in Sweetwater, Texas and then attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. She was an elementary school teacher in Antelope, Chilicothe, and Abernathy, Texas school districts. She married Frank R. Andrews in Sweetwater June 1, 1931.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bryan and the First Baptist Church of Albany for 30 years. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union, Vacation Bible School, and Girl's Auxiliary. She taught in the children's Sunday School department for 15 years. She was a member of the Albany Garden Club, the Oaks Garden Club of Bryan, and was a national rose judge, active in the China Painting Guild of Abilene, Texas from 1974 - 1987, and a founding member of "Know your Neighbor Club" at Ft. Griffin, Texas.

Mrs. Andrews was a resident of Crestview Retirement Community of Bryan and will be best remembered for her love of family, friends, church, and her appreciation of art which she displayed in her china painting and her flower arranging.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Andrews; one daughter and son-in-law, Pattsie and Keith Haines; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank A. and Lynda Andrews; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill May, S. J. May, and Joe May; and one sister, Anetta Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
