Burton Thomas Mauland was born March 26, 1926, at Cottonwood, Minnesota, to parents Bernhard and Nettie (Brenden) Mauland. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota.
He served as a Radioman in the U. S. Navy, serving from January 19, 1945, to July 11, 1946. Burton and Marion Luedtke were united in marriage on June 5, 1954. This marriage was blessed with two sons: Jeffery and Philip and one daughter, Susan.
Burton and Marion were engaged in farming in Vallers Township of Lyon County, Minnesota, and he also sold Federal Crop Insurance.
Burton was a faithful member of the English Lutheran Church of Cottonwood where he served on the church council as President, Treasurer, Elder, and Trustee.
He enjoyed sports, especially golf. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion, Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, and the Cottonwood Country Club.
Burton passed away at the Minneota Manor Health Care Center, Minneota, Minnesota, on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the age of 75 years and 1 month.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; sons, Jeffrey and Philip; his daughter, Susan; two grandchildren; and brother, Lyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
