Norma Nielsen Evans
"Great-Grandma Red"

On March 20, 2003, Norma Nielsen Evans left the arms of her children and grandchildren to join the love of her life, Frank.

Norma was born Sept 28, 1919 in Riverton, UT to Niels J. and Evelyn W. Nielsen. She was number six of 12 children. She married her soul mate, Frank C. Evans June 30, 1941 and they remained sweethearts for more than 62 years.

Her beauty shone not only outwardly, but within, and brought warmth to everyone who crossed her path. Mom always saw the beauty in simple things and had a positive attitude about life. She gathered friends like wildflowers, delighting in the uniqueness of each one. Raised on a farm, Mom was not afraid of hard work and took on every task with a smile. She was generous to a fault. Dinner at her house meant there would be lots of people and a second turkey was always possible. Even during the days preceding her death, she gathered her family in her home and gave peace and comfort to each and every person before she left. (She loved a party and it always took her a long time to say goodbye.)

Survivors include daughters, Susan (David) Child, Marsha (Ron) Rodgers; son, Craig Evans; grandchildren, Marc (Brenda) Child, Tiffany (Ryan) Foutz, Matt (Melissa) Child, Kristin Bollinger, Lindsay (Colby) Dean; great-grand-children, Braden, Paige, Madisen, Mitchell, Hannah, Austin, Penny, Skylee, Samantha; brother, Kenneth (Fern) Nielsen; and sisters, Maxine (Morris) Terry-Nelson, Margene (Howard) Pix-ton. Preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents; brothers, Lawrence, Douglas, Russell, Calvin, Howard; and sisters, Evelyn Meisenholder, Florence Osborne, Carma Cutler.

We would like to express our thanks to Dr. Darrell Hensleigh and his wonderful, caring staff who always went out of their way to make Mom feel special and to Harmony Home Health & Hospice for guiding us through Mom's final days.

A celebration of her life will be Tues. March 25, Wasatch Lawn Mortuary with a gathering of family and friends at 12 noon, followed by a brief graveside service at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Harmony Home Health & Hospice or a charity of your choice.
