Fred graduated from Eden Theological Seminary in 1911. He married Anna Caroline Damme 11 Oct 1911; Children: Clara, Leta, Edith, Melvin. He married Lydia M. (Krebs) Schmidt 15 Jun 1951 Kansas City, Jackson, MO. They lived in New Orleans, LA, & Houston, TX, where he died.

LOWDEN CHURCHES
ZION EVANGELICAL AND REFORMED
The Rev. Theo. Thomas became minister in 1926. In 1932 the Rev. Fred J. Abele succeeded him. A new constitution was adopted, mid-week Lenten services were introduced, and many repairs were made on all the church property. The Rev. Norman S. Roberts, present pastor, was called following the resignation of Rev. Abele in 1946.
