After she died, he lived with his daughter, Emma, and her husband in Fort Atkinson where he helped out in the family's tinsmithing business. He had previously worked as a cooper.
He was the last of his family when he died and had been staying with his step-grand-daughter in Lebanon, WI. He died at the age of 90 of myocarditis and is buried in the Frederick C Wilkowski family plot next to his wife Louisa.
