Madalynn L. Benson, 81, of rural Maquon died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 4, 1916 in Fulton County to Earl Cornelius and Flo Lucile Hornback Dikeman, she married Harold B. Benson on Sept. 6, 1936, in Knox County. He died July 22, 1991.

Two daughters, one brother and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Lou Morse of Maquon; two sons, Gene of Arizona and Jerry of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Robert Dikeman of Maquon; and four sisters, Norma Bigger of Media, Rosa Simkins of Knoxville, Virginia Pruett of Maquon and Roletta Mottaz of Yates City.

She was a member of Farmington Women of the Moose Lodge 470, Yates City Chapter 256 of the Order of Eastern Star and Yates City Women's Club.

Private burial will be at West Midway Cemetery, southeast of London Mills.
