William S. Stone, 69, died Sunday, August 2, 1970, at 8 p.m., in his home in Memphis, Missouri. He was born in Scotland County, Missouri, August 23, 1900, a son of Ed and Ida Jane Morris Stone.

Mr. Stone was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was married to Nellie Foster of Memphis, December 11, 1926.

He was employed for may years by Craig Feed Store and Wiegner Lumber Company before his retirement.

Surviving are the widow; two sons, Vern of Mesquite, Texas, and John of Bloomington, Indian; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Cone of Memphis and Mrs. Norma Day of Bloomington, Indiana; two brothers, Cody of Memphis, and Tiffy of Detroit, Michigan; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Baker, Mrs. Virgil Hyde and Mrs. Lucille Riebel, all of Memphis; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; four brothers, Hazen, Vern, Dick and Arlie.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 5, 1970, at 2 p.m., from the Gerth & Baskett Chapel, Memphis, Missouri with the Rev. Cleo Kottwitz officiating. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Body bearers were Roger Riebel, George Meinhardt, Jamie Riebel, Larry Green, Gary Wayne Hyde, and Robert Dochterman.
