Knoxville, IL - Ralph W. Bock, 72, of 605 S. Prairie St. died at 2:40 a.m. Friday, May 17, 1996, at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Born July 10, 1923, in Maquon to Alvin Sr. and Lillian Allen Bock, he married Nettie Lockwood on Dec. 14, 1945, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Knoxville; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Marie) Thompson of Bartonville; two brothers, Alvin Jr. of Maquon and Clyde "Pete" of Victoria; and two grandchildren.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a life member of Galesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4724 and was a member of Harry Philblad American Legion Post 749 for 35 years.

He farmed in the Dahinda area for 25 years. He was assistant fire chief of Knoxville Fire Department and assistant fire chief at the former Galesburg Mental Health Center.

He was a member of Masonic Pacific Lodge 66, AF&AM, for 21 years and was a 33rd degree Mason. He was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 880, Peoria Consistory, and Mohammed Temple, Shrine of Peoria.

He was a member of the former Uniontown Baptist Church in rural Maquon.

Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by his American Legion post.
