BOOK - RICE COUNTY FAMILIES, PUB. 1981. Bernard Becker and his wife spent their entire lives in their birthplace of Schlert, Germany. They had a family of eight children, all of whom immigrated to the United States. They arrived in Wisconsin in 1863, lived there until 1868 when they moved to Minnesota to settle in Bridgewater township. The eight brothers and sisters were Math, Nick, JohnPeter, Mike, George, Nickla, Lena and AnnaMarie who is the only one missing from the family picture. Eventually all but Math, Nick and JohnPeter left Rice County to settle elsewhere. Lena married John Pofahl of Faribault where they lived for several years before moving to St. Cloud. AnnaMaire married John Streit and moved to Ashton, Iowa, Nickla also moved there. Mike moved to Adrian, Mn. and from there he went to Seattle, Washington. George married Elizabeth Wertzler and moved to Hampton, Mn. Math married Margaret Jensen. Three children were born to them. John married Clara Kaul, Nick married Barbara Strouth and Mary married Theodore Kitzman. All of them were farmers in Bridgewater township. JohnPeter known as "HansPeter" married Mary Wertzler. They farmed in Bridgewater and had a family of eight children. Andrew, who married Mamie O'Brien, operated a Liquor Store in Faribault. Mike married Mamie Karp and settled on a farm in Bridgewater. Anna married Myles Martin and moved to Minneapolis while Mary married John franz and they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada to farm. Elizabeth married Mathew Thomas and they were Bridgewater farmers. George married Susan Kotz and they farmed in Forest township. John was a bachelor and stayed on the home place. Margaret married Edwin Beese of Faribault where they lived and he worked for Wilson company. Nick married Barbara Meyer. Their children numbered ten.
