She was born in Ritzville on May 17, 1931, to Michael and Anna (Werner) Leisle, the youngest of 9 children. She grew up in Ritzville, graduating from Ritzville High School in 1949. She married Frank Gilliland in 1953. Although they divorced in 1973, they remained good friends until his death in 2006.
She worked as a cook at Good Samaritan Village Retirement Home in Spokane for many years. After retiring, she moved to Ritzville in 1992 to be near her family. She resided at Life Care Center since 2007 due to numerous health problems.
Gloria was a member of Zion Philadelpia United Church of Christ and Daughters of Zion. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her brothers: Henry, Arthur and Aaron Leisle, her sisters: Marie Leisle Lee, Mollie Leisle Cline, Lydia Leisle Greenwalt and Esther Leisle Schneider. She is survived by her sister, Alma Leisle Ferderer of Ritzville and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, October 11, at 1:30 PM at Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ in Ritzville.
The family suggests memorials be sent to Adams County Pet Rescue or to Zion Philadelphia UCC. DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY-RITZVILLE is entrusted with arrangements.
