Mr. Vollmann was born in Chicago, IL, on Ocotber 20, 1920, and had lived in Fullerton, CA, since 1955. Before moving to California, Mr. Vollmann was a professional jazz drummer and became an accountant after graduating from La Salle College in 1951. Since his retirement as corporate controller at Beckman Instruments in 1982. Mr. Vollmann actively participated in senior softball and recently played with the over-80 team that won the World Series in Winnipeg.
Mr. Vollmann is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence; his three children, Tim of Albuquerque, Alan of North Potomac, MD and Sue of Whitefish, MT; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Mr. Vollmann who served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and will be buried with honors on Tuesday, May 29th at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial mass will be celebrated in Fullerton, CA on Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 a.m., at St. Juliana Falconieri Catholic Church, where Mr. Vollmann was one of the original parishioners. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mr. Vollmann's memory to the Hospice Memorial Foundation, 4725 Indian School Rd. NE, Suite 100, 87110.
