Brian Edward Norman, Brian E. Norman, 34, of Forest Hills, Md., formerly of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in Forest Hills. He was born Sept. 29, 1974, in Pittsburgh, and was a public School Teacher in Maryland. He was in the Maryland National Guard and received two bronze stars while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a graduate of Norwin High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Leland R. and Sue Norman, of North Canton, Ohio; mother, Nancy (Praksti) Norman, of Cranberry; two brothers, his twin, Lee Michael Norman, of Hunker, and Martin Norman, of Ohio; sister, Jessica K. Weimer, of Hempfield; six uncles, Leonard, Kurt, Keith, Lester, Karl and Bruce Norman; two aunts, Barbara “Maggie” Bana, of Harrison City, and Nora Norman; and nieces. He was predeceased by grandmothers, Marilyn Norman and Evelyn Waldron; and an uncle, Marvin Norman. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of blessing service at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel of VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. Interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with full military honors by the Maryland National Guard.
Charles Clarence Shotwell, 89, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of White Oak, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at home. He was born July 29, 1919, in New Florence, and was the son of the late Edgar Vickers Shotwell and Amelia (Bailey) Shotwell. He was a member of Glassport Assembly of God Church and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a crane operator for the former J&L Steel and also worked for U.S. Steel Christy Park Works and Sears at Eastland. He is survived by daughters, Charlotte (Rick) McPherson, of Brush Prairie, Wash., Elaine Brown, of Loris, S.C., and Melony (Kevin) Burdine, of Indianapolis, Ind.; sons, Clifford Shotwell, of Pittsburgh, and Bruce (Jennifer) Shotwell, of Deep Water, Mo.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Shotwell, who died Sept. 7, 2003; and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Denman, who died June 4, 2008. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Geissler officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Long Run Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
