Donald E Brooks, 91, of Lafayette, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday July 4, 2011, at St Elizabeth Central, Lafayette. He was born Nov 29, 1919, in Lafayette and was the son of the late Hiram & Loma Pearson Brooks. He graduated from Stockwell High School, and served in the Navy, He married Ruth "Sally" Bray on Nov 29, 1942, in Stockwell, She survives. Mr Brooks was a past business manager for Local 668 I.B.E.W. He was a member of American Legion and 40&8 and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Surviving with his wife are three sons, Tony Brooks and Ken Brooks (wife: Belita), both of Lafayette, and Randy Brooks of Port Charlotte, Florida; and two sisters, Thelma Morgan of Stockwell and Phyllis Vanderwielen (Husband Cecil) of Cicero. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers. Private family services will be held at a later date.
