James Davis Price was the son of Henry Price Jr. and Nancy Davis and the grandson of early settler James Davis and Anne Everett. He was fought in the Civil War, along with his son George Price, in Pvt. E Co. 8th TN Cav 10 Oct 1863-11 Sep 1865.
Arch Heck, whose mother was a cousin of James Davis Price and who interviewed people very early, said that James and his sister Manirva were raised by their grandparents, James and Anne (Everett) Davis after their mother died and their
father remarried. After James Davis Price got married he continued to live on the old James Davis I homestead in Mountain Valley. After he died in April, his second wife
Catherine Goodman applied on the 1st of May for a widow's pension and listed the three children by him. I believe the reason he is buried in the Snyder cemetery is because it is likely that Sally Drinnon Price is buried there in an unmarked grade, since her mother's sister Elizabeth married Charles Snyder. Catherine Goodman, his second wife, is not buried with him, and I think that is most likely because he
was buried with his first wife. Descendants have told me that Catherine is buried in an unmarked grave in the Burton Cemetery in Little Pumpkin Valley.
