Ida Dorris Van Fossen, the sixth child of seven of Charley Harris Havard (17 Oct 1875 - 05 Apr 1951) and Iva Jett (06 Jun 1878 - 16 Apr 1963) was born 11 Feb 1919 in Huffman, Harris County, TX. She died June 27m 2008 in Pearland, Brazoria County, TX.

She had four sisters and two brothers: Jeremiah Culbertson Havard (27 Oct 1907 - 15 Apr 1979), Eugene Weldon Havard (02 Sep 1909 - 08 May 1991), Mary Rhoda "Polly" Havard Hellman (22 Jul 1911 - 03 Apr 2003), Johnnie Carey Havard Ehrlund/ Havard (28 Jun 1913 - 02 Apr 1997), Alice Wilda Havard Lindstrom (18 Jan 1916 - 14 Sep 2011), and Ruby Mabel Havard Hurt (22 Sep 1921 - 21 Nov 1996).

She grew up on the Havard farm in Huffman, TX and attended the Huffman schools, During her early adult live she was a beautician, during WW II, she enlisted in the US Army Air Force as a WAC. She was a weatherman and provided information to the pilots of the condition of the weather.

She married first Mitchell Vanya (02 Nov 1910 - 08 Aug 1960) born in Vanya Woods, Liberty County, TX, son of Cud Vanya (26 Oct 1882 - 20 May 1981) and Johnanna (17 Dec 1885 - 08 Dec 1981) on 12 Apr 1951.

She and Vanya enjoyed life and moved to Durban, South Africa where Vanya was superintendent in construction of a refinery. Later, the couple moved back to Huffman, TX to the Havard place on Havard Road. They enjoyed the land and built a beautiful home there and even raised gold fish in large pools to sell for bait.

They had two sons: Timothy Wayne Vanya who married Mary Katheryn Rich, and Stephen Ray Vanya who married Katharine Marie Garner. They had two grandchildren, Sarah Colleen Vanya and Mitchell Thomas Stephen Vanya.

After Vanya died, she married second Wayne Woodrow Van Fossen (19 Oct 1912 - 08 Apr 1973) born in Ohio son of Rufus Bingham Van Fossen (24 Oct 1874 - 1949) and Rose E Congrove (27 Sep 1882 - 1967).

She and Wayne continued to live on the Havard place. Wayne worked for Borden Ice Cream and was special to Tim and Steve.

After Wayne's death, Dorris continued to live in Huffman for several years, but eventually move to the Pearland area to be near her son Tim and his wife and their children. She maintained a beautiful home and always had a beautiful flowers.

She spent several years in a nursing home in Pearland and died there 27 Jun 2008 at the age of 89.
