Fred C Kahl was born October 22, 1871, in Hohenfelder, Germany and died on October 14, 1928, at in Cherokee at the age of 56 years 11 months and 23 days. He was the son of Heinrich Kahl and Anna Moeller. On October 29, 1892, he was married to Henrietta Kahl at Davenport where they lived for about five years. Later they moved to Crawford county and lived around Vail till 1911, when they moved on a farm southeast of Deloit where Mrs. Kahl died on January 12, 1919. In 1920 Mr. Kahl moved to Deloit where he lived in retirement till about three weeks ago when he took sick and was taken to the Denison hospital and later to the State hospital at Cherokee.

Eleven children were born to them, seven of them living, they are: Mrs. Gusta Clinton of Vail; William, Misses Alice and Viola, of Flandereau, S D; Mrs. Lena Bohm of Dunlap; Mrs. Frieda Anders of Omaha; Mrs. Anna Larsen of Kiron. One sister, Mrs. Kate Claussen of Lake Park and one brother, Detlef Kahl of Davenport.

Mr. Kahl was a quiet man, a good husband and father, a good neighbor and had a host of friends who sympathize with the children in the loss of their father.

The remains were brought to Denison and prepared at the Schnoor and Koch funeral home where services were held on Wednesday, October 17, at 2 PM. Interment was made in the family lot in the Lutheran cemetery, south of town. Rev. Hamlin of the Presbyterian church officiating.
