Leon Goldin of Balfour died peacefully on June 23, 2011. He would have been 93 years old this October.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 70 years, Lucille Rosansky Goldin.

Leon and Lucille came to Louisville in 2006 from Camarillo, California where they had lived for more than 25 years after moving from New York City in 1979.

Prior to retirement, Leon was a data processing manager at Burlington Industries. Leon served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.

He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and attended the City College of New York.

A native of the Bronx, the NY Yankees will be without one of their most dedicated fans. When he lived in NY, Leon attended Young Israel of Parkchester and he became a member of Congregation Har HaShem in Boulder.

Leon will be fondly remembered by his daughters Judith (of Boulder) and Claudia (of Cambridge, MA) as the dad who would do anything for his children. His three grandchildren, Paula (Boulder) together with her husband Marcus, Marc (of Los Angeles) and Heather (of Scottsdale, AZ) together with her husband Ferrel will warmly recall him as an adoring grandfather. And his five great-grandchildren (Jackson, Henry, and Charlie of Boulder, and Ryan and Rosie of Scottsdale) will miss their Papa.

In addition to those mentioned, Leon is survived by his sister, Esther Wigode of NYC and his brother Joseph Goldin of Las Vegas.

After they retired, Leon and Lucille traveled widely across the globe and accumulated master points in bridge. Leon enjoyed lapidary and other hobbies and was "Mr. Fixit" for many of the residents of Leisure Village in Camarillo.

Most of all, Leon was a kindhearted person who enjoyed nothing more than helping those around him. His Hebrew name - Aryeh Lev means Lion Hearted and there was no man with a bigger heart.

A graveside service will be held 9 am Sunday June 26, 2011 at Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery.
