John died about 1910. Husband of Cynthia Ann Smith, married 31 DEC 1866 in Yazoo City, Hinds (now Yazoo) County, Mississippi; husband of Mary Ellen Bowery, married 15 SEP 1868 in Raymond, Hinds County, Mississippi; husband of Mary Ann Edings, married : 26 Dec 1876 in Raymond, Hinds County, Mississippi (A Mr. Swafford signed for Mary Ann for the marriage, so she may have been under age). Son of Ignatz J. "Enos" and Eve Katherine (Fuchs/Fox) Berberet.

Notes:

- Was a maker of bridles and saddles, in Mechanicsburg, Mississippi.

- Joined the Confederate Army at the outbreak of the war. He enlisted May 1, 1861 at Hurd County, Mississippi, and served four years, with no injuries. Served in Company L of Wood's Calvary.

- As a result of him siding with the Confederacy, his father disowned him, and only left him $5 in his will.

- John's wife Mary Ann was approved for a widows pension in 1910, stating that her husband John W. had died in Edina, Missouri. There is no record of that.
