John P. Andrews
John P. Andrews of 307 Northside Drive, a native of Bennington and 22 year employee of the Vermont State Highway Department, died at the age of 39 this morning at Putnam Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born June 22, 1935 to Harry and Edith H. (Johnson) Andrews, he received his education in the local schools and was a member of the Vermont National Guard for many years. He belonged to the Bennington Lodge of Elks and was a member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department.
In addition to his widow, the former Pauline La Brie, whom he married July 26, 1958 at Sacred Heart Church; and his mother also of Bennington; he leaves three sons, John Jay, Scott A. and Allen D. Andrews, and a daughter, Linda J. Andrews, all of Bennington; four brothers, Harry D. and Roger I., both of Bennington, LeRoy H. of North Pownal and Leon R. of Shaftsbury; three sisters, Irene Andrews of Bennington; Barbara Jones of Shaftsbury and Jean Mulvihill of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday morning at 10. Burial will be in the family plot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may pay respects at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, when the family will be in attendance. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rural Fire Department through the funeral home office.
