Elma K. Mourton of Junction City died Sept. 21 in a train-pedestrian accident. She was 97.

Elma was born May 9, 1910, in Pilot Rock, to Richard and Claudine Kirchoff. She married Cleland Herron in 1936. He died in 1962. She married Raymond Mourton in 1964. He died in 1994.

She graduated from the Oregon State University nursing program in 1963 and was a county health nurse for many years.

She had lived in Junction City for nine years. She volunteered as a reader for elementary school children at Laurel Elementary School for several years.

She was a charter member of Shadow Hills Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and caring for her cat.

She is survived by a sister, Olive Walden of Corvallis.

Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene was in charge of arrangements.
