Otis Cooper, 89, Retired Farmer, Taken By Death

Otis Cooper,89, retired farmer of Route 1, Pavo, died Friday night in a local rest home following an illness of two months.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. Sunday in the Ione Methodist Church, with burial following in the Ione cemetery. The Rev. Earl Hart pastor of the Ione Methodist Church will officiate and the Rev. George Pullen of Cairo will assist him.

The body will remain in the local funeral home until placed in the church an hour before the rites.

Mr. Cooper, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Cooper, was born August 7, 1877 in Colquitt County. Mr. Cooper was the father of the late Mayo Cooper, who was principal of the Culbertson school, and was a member of the Ione Methodist Church.

He lived in the Ione community for more than 70 years

Death occurred at 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Surviving Mr. Cooper are three sons, Guy Cooper, Tampa, Fla., H. L. Cooper, Route 1, Pavo, and Harold cooper, Pavo; two daughters, Mrs. Mattie Lou Green, Pavo and Mrs. Allie Pearl Carroll, Route 1, Pavo; three stepchildren, Leon Powell, Thomasville, Mrs. Alice Rogers, Tallahassee, Fla., and Mrs. Ester Hamm, Thomasville; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
