Wesley Franklin "Frank" Johnson, 75, of Atkinson died on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his home. He was born May 12, 1935 in Pender County, a son of the late John Wesley Johnson & Ethel Woodcock Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Addie Mae Horrell.

Husband 51 years of Kay Barnhill Johnson. He is also survived by sisters, Inez Covil, Burgaw, Nellie Hiers (Jim), Jackson, SC, Martha Rooks, Rocky Point, & Kay Jordan (Johnny), Atkinson; brother, Lee Roy Johnson (Alice) of Atkinson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Atkinson Baptist Church and was a retired Pender County farmer. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed family gatherings; tilling the soil to grow sweet potatoes and peanuts; and taking trips with his dear Kay and her family. With a great sense of humor, he made friends easily and kept them for a life time.

Funeral service were conducted Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Atkinson Baptist Church, with The Rev. Douglas Warnock officiating. Burial followed at the Haw Bluff Baptist Church graveyard.

The Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Burgaw assisted the family with the arrangements.
