Frankie B. Elkins went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29 at the age of 93 at Autumn Leaves Dementia and Alzheimer Facility in Spring, TX. She was born on September 19, 1917 in Vivian, LA to Alf and Ruby Brackman and attended Vivian High School.

She was a long-time resident of Shreveport but also lived in numerous other places throughout her life. Her chief interests and activities were her children, her cooking, and her Sunday School class at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Frankie is survived by her daughter, Jo Nita Hawes of Montgomery, TX and son, Sammy Dickinson and his wife, Sharon of Pittsboro, NC; sisters, Melba Pennington and Jeannine Belcher of Shreveport, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. Her extended family includes: William Hawes (Janet), Gerald Hawes (Cathy), Patricia Eckert (Marc) and great-grandchildren Micayla Hawes, Justin Hawes, Elliott Hawes, and Emah Eckert. She is preceded in death by spouses Lloyd Dickinson and John Elkins; brother, Ford Brackman; sisters, Hazel Brackman, Cecile Baldwin, and Billie Faye McCord; son-in-law Bill Hawes; brothers-in-law Glenn Pennington, Maurice Baldwin, and Billy Joe McCord; and sister-in-law, Naomi Brackman.

Funeral services for Frankie Elkins will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Burial will be held at Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery. Officiating in the service will be Bro. Harry Forester. Visitation hours will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 4 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Jim Brackman, Gary Pennington, Rodney Pennington, and Dave Holland.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at the Autumn Leaves Dementia and Alzheimer Facility for their unconditional and loving care they gave our Mom and to Grace Hospice.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer Foundation and/or American Cancer Society .
