Mrs. Annie Olive Myers, formerly of Rockhill Furnace, died Friday, September 27, 1974, at 5:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Anders of Star Route, Alexandria. She had been seriously ill for the past two months and was in failing health for a number of years.
Born in Cromwell Township on January 1, 1888, she was a daughter of John Monroe and Laura Belle (Grove) Secrest. She was united in marriage to Homer S. Myers on October 19, 1911, by the Rev. George Swayne. Her husband preceded her in death on December 19, 1957.
Surviving are these children: Mrs. Ralph (Gladys) Yingling, Waterfall; E. Monroe Myers and John I. Myers, both of Elizabethtown; Mrs. Philip (Catherine) Hooper, Wood; Mrs Mabel Anders, Star Route, Alexandria; Mrs. Arthur (Ada) Barth, Elizabethtown; Homer A. Myers, Harrisburg and Mrs. Mary Brinser, Elizabethtown. One daughter Helen preceded her in death.
There are 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 22 step-granchildren surviving. Two brothers and three sisters survive: Lloyd Secrest, Indiana, Pa.; Mrs. Catharine Grove, Orbisonia; John Abram Secrest, Huntingdon; Mrs. Zada Hicks, Rockhill Furnace and Mrs. Grace Pritts, Salisbury. One brother, Leonard preceded her in death.
The deceased was a member of the Rockhill Furnace Church of the Brethren. She belonged to the Willing Workers adult class and to the Ladies Aid of the Church of the Brethren. She had been a Sunday School teacher for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 1, at 2 p.m. form the Rockhill Furnace Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin, pastor of the church, and the Rev. David Emerson of Saxton R.D. will officiate. Interment will be made in the IOOF Memorial Cemetery at Rockhill Furnace.
Friends may call at the Ott funeral home, Orbisonia until 9 o'clock this Monday evening, and until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, and then at the church from noon until the time of the services.
