She married John Edward Mahoney Sr. on June 17, 1917 in Royal, Clay County, Iowa. Their children were Mary Ida, John Edward Jr., Ruth Jane, Helen Joyce, Betty Jane, Raymond Harry, Donald Wayne, Dale Elmer, David Herman and Shirley Jean.
Bertha eventually divorced him and met and married a gentle, family man from Oregon (1890-1964), Irvin Becker who was a loving father and grandfather to Bertha's children. May God bless them both.
Years after his death, Bertha then married Mr. Green.

Maternal grandparents were John Oehler and Doretha Mitner.
