Elmer Hart Jr., 81, of Worthington, formerly of Chandler, died Thursday, June 20, 2011, at South Shore Care Center, Worthington.

Elmer was born the son of Elmer & Isabel Vogt Hart on a farm in Fenton Township. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Elmer entered the United States Army on February 29, 1952 and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge on February 17, 1954 he returned to the family farm. On October 14, 1957 he and Madelia Opdahl were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulda. Following their marriage they farmed the Hart family farm and raised their three children. They retired in 1991 but remained on the farm until March 2011 when the moved to Worthington. On June 27, 2011 Elmer became a resident of the South Shore Care Center in Worthington. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. Elmer's life passion was farming!

Elmer & Madelia were the parents of Audrey Hart, Barb (Glenn) Persing, & Keith Hart.

Elmer's siblings include Virginia Anderson, Rob Hart, Ted Hart, & Al Hart.

Funeral services were officiated by Rev. Bruce Berg.
