ZEPHYR - Cecil L. Jowers, age 72, of Zephyr died Wednesday, November 29, 2000, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2000, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike East officiating. Interment will follow at Zephyr Cemetery.

He was born in Goldthwaite, Texas, the son of George Horton and Oma Covey Jowers. He married Cleo Scott at Georgetown, Texas, and worked as a truck driver. Mr. Jowers was a member of the Zephyr Baptist Church. He had lived in Zephyr since 1985 and was formerly of Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo Jowers, of Zephyr; four sons, Don and Jeffery Jowers, both of Bertram, Texas, Rick Jowers of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Cliff Jowers of Brownwood, Texas; three brothers, H.C. Jowers, of Merkel, Warren Jowers, of Noodle, and Marvin Jowers, of Burnet; 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchilddren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steve Jowers.
