Lifetime Palo Alto County resident Mrs. Henry (Alvena) Bruhn of Fenton died Monday, Jan. 21, 1980, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmestburg. She was 81.
Services for Mrs. Bruhn were held Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Fairville. The Rev. Robert Jensen officiated.
Casket bearers were William Bruhn, Harold Schneider, Virgil Bleckwenn, Kermit Wright, Gilbert Saxton and Melvin Wright.
Alvena (Bleckwenn) Bruhn was born May 3, 1898, in rural Palo Alto County. She was the daughter of Theodore and Theresa (Eppley) Bleckwenn.
On Oct. 3, 1929, Aivena and Henry Bruhn were married at Humboldt. The couple made their home in Fenton. Mrs. Bruhn was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Roscoe (Mildred) Sigmund of Boone and Howard Bruhn of rural Cylinder; six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Clara Wright of Estherville; a brother, Alfred Bleckwenn of Sandpint, Idaho; four step-sisters, Mrs. Lena O'Hare of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Elsie Davis of Wisconsin, Mrs. Irene Tattnor of California and Mrs. Kathryn Alderson of Fenton; and a stepbrother, Paul Bleckwenn of Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Bruhn was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, on April 17,1974; her parents, a grandson, a sister, two brothers and a step-brother.
