Obituary-Alphonse O. Girard
Alphonse Octave Girard was born at St. Joseph, Kansas on Feb. 14, 1909 and departed this life on May 5, 1950 at the age of 41 years, 2 months and 21 days. He was the fifth son of the late Felix Girard and Leah Girard.
At the age of 2 years, he with his parents moved to Vermillion, S.D. where he grew to manhood. Mr. and Mrs. Felix Girard and family moved from Kansas to South Dakota by the way of covered wagons.

On Nov. 27, 1934 he was married to Delma Georgianna Ribordy. To this union, three sons and one daughter were born. Alphonse Jr. dying in infancy.
Preceding him in death were his son, his father, one brother and a sister.
He leaves to mourn his departure, those who will miss him most, his wife, Delma, his children, James, Joan and Kenneth, and his mother, Mrs. Leah Girard. Also these brothers and sisters: Albert of Vermillion, Peter of Beresford, S.D.; Israel of Burbank, S.D.; Harvey, Isadore and Ranal of Sioux City, IA.; Emil of Stevens, S.D.; Mrs. Amanda Collette of Stevens, S.D.; Mrs. Alphonsine Girard and Mrs. Beulah Clay of Burbank; Mrs. Melvina Kunkle, Westfield, IA.; Mrs. Emma Begnoche, Mrs. Irene Clay of Sioux City, IA.; Mrs. Lena Bruneau of Jefferson, S.D., many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
His mother, his seven brothers and seven sisters were all present at his funeral.
Services were held at 9 a.m. May 8, 1950 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clyde, Kansas. Pall bearers were his nephews Gerald Girard, Emil Girard Jr., Hubert Girard, Ronald Colette, Leonard Ribordy and Ambrose Ribordy.
