Jake Rottenbucher Succumbs At Sturgis

Sturgis --- Requiem mass will be offered for Jake Rottenbucher at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leo S. Feuerbach as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery under direction of F. O. Jolley Funeral Home.

Rottenbucher died Wednesday afternoon in Community Memorial Hospital here following a long illness.

He was born Sept. 9, 1897 in Klenock, Austria and came to America with his parents in 1909. They homesteaded near Cedar Canyon where he lived until moving to Sturgis in 1946. He married Margaret McDermott May 31, 1926 at Cedar Canyon. He worked at the Fort Meade Veterans Administration Hospital since moving here.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Joe of Sturgis and Eugene of Longmont, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Simons of Sturgis; 12 grandchildren; and a brother, Karl, of Chandler, Fla.

Rosary service will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.

***Jake was the 11th child of Karl and Katherine Rottenbucher. The family came to America in 1909. He came with his parents to the Cedar Canyon area of South Dakota in 1916. They built their home one mile south of Cedar Canyon with the help of a neighbor, Bill Hinkel. Jake married Margaret on May 31, 1926. They moved to Sturgis in 1946 where Jake worked at Fort Meade.***
