Mrs. Edith Bird, 61, of 71 Isabella Road, died early Tuesday in a Somerset hospital following a lingering illness. She was born Jan. 7, 1909 at Mill Run, a daughter of Mrs. Ida Whipkey Imel and the late Grant Imel, and had lived in the Connellsvile area for the past 30 years. Surviving in addition to her mother are three daughters: Mrs. William (Betty) Bernard and Mrs. Duke (Lorraine) Rulli of Connellsville and Mrs. William (Nancy) Shimshock of Greenville, Pa.; a son, Ronald E. of Connellsville; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Imel of Normalville, R. D. and Omer of Somerset, and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Paul of Boswell, R. D. 2, and Mrs Ethel Kavan of Johnstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross F., in 1967, and a sister, Mrs. Edna Bender.
