Deceased Name: Marie G. Flessner

CULLOM - Marie G. Flessner, 94, of Cullom died at 8:10 a.m. Friday (June 2, 2000) at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cullom, Pastor Ed Stone officiating.

Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Cullom; Evenglow Lodge; or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Flessner was born Dec. 11, 1905, in Charlotte, the daughter of Frank and Gertie Haase Saathoff. She married Leslie O. Flessner on May 24, 1928, in Charlotte. He died June 26, 1980.

Survivors include one son, Paul (Diann) Flessner, Cullom; three daughters, Gerry Jehle, Cullom; Mary (Arthur) Hack, rural Kempton; and Ruth Ann (John) Penicook, Piper City; one sister, Annetta (Berdell) Galloway, Chatsworth; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, Frank, Jack, Ben, Albert and George Saathoff, and one sister, Sadie Martens, preceded her in death.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Flessner taught for four years in a country school.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Cullom; and charter member of Ford County Home Extension. She was educated in a country school and was a 1924 graduate of Chatsworth High School. She had attended Illinois State Normal University.
