John Stroud was born in Horry County Jan 5 1830. He was the son of Meady Stroud and Christine Blanton. he was twice married,first to Mary Polly Elliott,daughter of Aaron Elliott and Sarah Jane McDaniel. John and Mary had the following children:
Joseph Lenon,Roseanna,Alva,Sara Jane,Mary,Martha,and
Issac.After Mary died in 1873 he married Dora Adelaide Floyd,daughter of William Pinckney Floyd and Margaret Lewis.
Their children were:William(died in infancy),Vinson Mayo,Zilpha,Narcie,Margaret,Sandy,Fannie,Agnes,Cora,John Emory,Orpie,Frazier,Autry,and Delia.
John died Aug 10,1912 and is buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery which is also known as Stroud Cemetery.Most of the Strouds at this cemetery are descendents of John and his brothers.His daughter Cora was my greatgrandmother.
