Married 26 Oct 1882 to Robert P. Goodman.

Lodema died of tuberculosis on her daughter's, Lerlie's, tenth birthday. Relatives came from Lancaster by horse and buggy for the funeral. It started to rain, but changed to a blizzard. They were all snowbound in Adelphi for two days.

The original markers on the graves of Robert & Lodema Goodman were rounded concrete slabs that eventually sunk into the ground. In 2008 their grandson, Ralph Woolever, purchased a tombstone for their grave site at Green Summit. He also purchased one for his Uncle Will and his wife, Nellie.

OBITUARY - Adelphi Border News - April 19, 1901
A Saddened Household.
Only last week, on Tuesday morning, the remains of Robert Goodman's mother, was placed in the grave prepared for them, and yesterday afternoon the poor man buried his devoted wife. Mrs. Goodman has been going down for a year past, but she did not take to her bed until seven week's ago. But since being confined to her room, the afflicted woman sank rapidly, and in a few days thereafter was unable to leave the bed unassissted. She was tenderly cared for and administered to by kind hands, and all was done that could be, to preserve life, but consumption in its vital form had laid hold on the frail form, and was unceasing in
its inroads, until death convened and took the poor, tired spirit away, the chords of life snapping in twain, on Tuesday afternoon. The lady was conscious up 'till the last, and only a few minutes before death she called her husband and children to her bedside and admonished them all to be good and "meet her up there."

Mrs. Goodman was an excellent neighbor, a devoted wife and careful mother, and the family will sorely miss her guiding hands, and tender words. The afflicted husband, who has buried the two most cherished members of his household within the week, has the undivided sympathy of the people of Adelphi and community, and so has the five motherless children.

OBITUARY. Lodema, Kima Steele, the eldest daughter of William and Barbara Steel, was born in the village of South Perry on the 13th of June 1854, and died at her late home in Adelphi, April 16th, 1901, aged 46 years, 10 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage with R. P. Goodman, October 26th, 1882, and to this union was born five children, three daughters and two sons, all of whom are living. One sister, Mrs. Peter Drum, and one brother, Mr. Thomas Steele [Steel], of Laurelville, and a number of other relatives are left to mourn, with the children and husband. Deceased has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, since her girlhood days, she being converted at Union Church, in South Perry Circuit.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at two o-clock, from the M.E. church, Rev. Mr. Blair officiating. A large congregation of relatives and friends were in attendance on the last sad rites of one who was a highly respected lady and citizen of the community. Interment was made in the beautiful Green Summitt. [sic]
