Obituary, "Hollister Free Lance", 1911: "DEATH OF MRS. C. A. SCOTT-Mrs. C. A. Scott, who underwent a surgical operation Thursday at the hospital, died this morning. Cancer had developed so far as to preclude recovery.
Deceased, who [sic] a native of California, aged 53 years and 17 days, had been a resident of this city since 1873, and could therefore be regarded as a pioneer. Those left to mourn her loss are her mother, Mrs. A. L. Hunter, of Lompoc, Cal: five sons: Walter, Ray, Glenn, Winfield and Earl, and a daughter, Mrs. Lillian A. Marks, of San Francisco: also three brothers, Squire, James, and Willis Winn, and three sisters, Mrs. J. J. Burnett and Mrs. Geo. Varcoe of Hollister, and Mrs. Richard E. Palmer of Los Angeles."
