Esther Fey Riley, age 89, of Yorkville, IL passed away on Monday, February 24, 2003 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born July 13, 1913 in Naperville, IL, the daughter of Floyd and Alma (Dreessen) Fey.
    Esther was united in marriage on March 7, 1942 in Aurora, IL to Mr. Lewis C. Riley and they spent the next 60 happy years of their lives together until his passing on April 6, 2002.
    Mrs. Riley was a member of the Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church in Aurora, IL and its predecessors for over 70 years. She had been a member of its senior choir, as well as the director of the Junior Choir, a Sunday School Superintendent, and a teacher of the Fellowship Class. Esther taught elementary grades in East Aurora for nine years and fifth grade in Yorkville for 17 years, where she was the first recipient of Yorkville's Teacher of the Year Award. The Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora, IL awarded her the Excellence in Teaching Certificate for being the inspiration to a gifted student who attended and excelled there. Esther was a member and past President of the Kendall County Garden Club, the Shabbona Territory Rock and Gem Club, the Yorkville Grade P.T.A., and the Yorkville Women's Club. Mrs. Riley had for 12 years served on the Fox Country Players Board and had been a volunteer in both the Senior Nutrition Program and Hometown Days Committee.
    Esther is survived by her daughter, Michele B. Riley Willis of Hampshire, IL; her son, Patrick E. (Debby) Riley of Naperville, IL; her granddaughters, Jennifer and Lauren Riley, both of Naperville, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends who will miss her dearly.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Riley; and her five brothers, George, Robert, Donald, Richard and Walter Fey.
    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville with Reverend Tom Babbler officiating. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL.
