He was born one the family farm near Princeton, KS to Troy and Grace (Winter) Herring Arpil 22 1923. He attended the one room school Acorn from grade 1 through 8 and graduated High School in Princeton.
He love the outdoors and was a farmer, farming the land that has been in the Herring family since 1893.
He married Jessie J. (Lacey) Herring April 24, 1943 in Lawrence she passed away Nov 10, 2007.
Survivors include four children, Eileen Herring, Reita Olberding & Jerry, Roberta Crooks and Russell and Brad Herring and Jennifer.
A daughter Susan passed away in 1972 leaving a daughter Stephanie (Herring ) Flory whom they raised.
He leaves sisters Dorothy Ballard and Jean Stinson, He was preceded in death by a borther Roy , sister in law Helen and brother-in-law J.B.Ballard
