Chico Enterprise Record, Wednesday, June 23, 1993, pg 3B: "Maude Ford. Durham. --- A graveside service for Lillian "Maude" Ford, 95, of Durham, will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. She died Sunday, June 20, 1993, in a Chico convalescent hospital. Mrs. Ford was born July 29, 1897, in Oroville to William and Julie McElroy. The family moved to Durham when she was 5, and she attended Durham schools. She wed Leroy Ford, a marriage that lasted 54 years. He died in 1969. Mrs. Ford lived and worked on the family almond ranch from 1935 until near her death. During World War II, she drove the Durham School District school bus.

"In 1985, she was voted Woman of the Year in Durham. She also earned awards for her almonds, and was a member for 50 years of the Rebekahs and Eastern Star.

"Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Hutton and Vivian Pyle, both of Durham; and 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Durham Volunteer Fire Department or a favorite charity, in care of Brusie Funeral Home in Chico."
