"Mrs. Nancy Jane Bray, 73, died at her home near Nancy Thursday, August 7. Mrs. Bray was born October 21, 1878. On December 4, 1897, she and Joe Sievers Bray were united in marriage and to this union five children were born. Mrs. Bray was a devoted wife and mother and numbered her friends by her acquaintances.

Professing her faith in Christ several years ago, Mrs. Bray united with the New Hope Baptist Church where she was a faithful member as long as her health permitted. She was always willing to help others in need and devoted much of her time to acts of Christian charity.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Sievers Bray; one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Wilson of Burnetta; three sons, Columbus Bray of Ingle, George Bray of Pointer, and Johnnie Bray of Springfield, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, August 9, at the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. John J. Carter officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery."
