Reburial Service For Soldier Held By Avery Pastor
The body of Staff Sgt. Lowery C. Warren, killed in action in Europe, June 15, 1944, was brought home for reburial at Avery Thursday afternoon. The Rev. O. B. Rogers, Methodist pastor at Avery, officiated at the church, and Lindeman-Jolley Funeral Home made interment in the cemetery there, where military rites were observed.
Sergeant Warren made the Normandy invasion landing, June 6, 1944, with the Second Division, and was killed nine days later. His body was brought home from the U. S. Military Cemetery at St. Laurent, France.
Surviving are his step-father and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Mark McPeak; his wife, and daughter, all living at Avery.
