First of eleven children born to Samuel and Eliza Jane (Secrist)Spayde. Married John Clever Dec 28,1882. Mother of Samuel Anthony, Fred Henry, Walter Edwin, Gladys Margaret, Bessie Rose, Paul Albert, Ruth Lilly, and Harold John. Sister of Martha Florence, Elizabeth Etta, Mary C., Henry L., Emma A., Dora Irene, Dollie F., William S., Cora I. and Adam Leroy. Born and raised on farm in Washington Twp, Richland Co, OH and made home with husband on farm also in Wash. Twp. Eventually moved with husband to Bellville after selling the farm. Family then went into the greenhouse business.

BELLVILLE WOMAN CLAIMED BY DEATH
Mrs. John Clever Was Church Member 50 Years.
Mrs. Lillie C. Spayde Clever, 70, lifelong resident of Richland county, died at her home in Bellville Tuesday. She was born in Washington township and was a member of the Trinity Evangelical church for more than 50 years.
She was married Dec. 28, 1882, to John Clever, who preceded her in death. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Frye and Mrs. Bessie Banks of Bellville; Mrs. Ruth Rinehart of Marietta; four sons, Samuel Clever of Mansfield; Fred of Johnsville; Walter and Harold of Bellville; one brother, Henry Spayde of Mansfield; five sisters, Mrs. William Maglott, Mrs. Harry Taylor and Mrs. Harvey Haglott, of Bellville; Mrs. Albert Kochheiser and Mrs. Alden Snyder of Mansfield; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
