Thomas Kell was born just before the Revolutionary War on Rocky Creek in Chester Co. SC. His parents, John and Jane Morton Kell, were emigrants from northern Ireland. He married Margaret Ann Gaston in 1799. In 1822 they made the trek by wagon and oxen, along with several of their children and several Gaston families, to Jefferson County, IL. Thomas and Margaret had twelve children. They were my 4th great grandparents.

These photos of gravestones of Old Covenanter Cemetery (near Walnut Hill in Marion County, Illinois) were taken the first week of May in 2012 in a combined effort by first cousins David R. McLaughlin and Brian F. McLaughlin of Florida. David handled the updated notes and Brian shot the photos.

The credit for the organization of these records goes purely to the Boggs family's first survey of the early 1930s, and Maxine Wormer's updated work in the 1970s onward -- when she printed her own updated survey in Footprints Magazine, the newsletter of the Marion County Genealogical Society.

Gravestone of Thomas Kell and his wife, Margaret Ann Gaston Kell. She was the daughter of Revolutionary War veteran William Gaston, 1757 - 1838. The Kells were my 4th great grandparents.
