ADAM WAGNER: Born on May 20, 1781, in Union County, Pennsylvania, son of German immigrants John and Catherine (Kuntzman) Wagner, who were born in Germany and settled in Berks County Pennsylvania and later moved into Union County, where their son Adam was born. Adam Wagner married Mary Scherfler on March 17, 1807 in Union County, where they resided until 1825. Here eight daughters were born, who were destined to become the fore mothers of several generations representing a part of the best citizenship of Centre and Clearfield Counties. In 21825, hey with their families, moved into Centre County, Pennsylvania settling at Martha Furnace, where a son was born. He was a millwright by trade. He built a sawmill and grist mill at Martha Furnace, and a grist mill at Milesburg. In 1840 they were residing in Pine Grove, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. In 1855 in Claverack, Columbia, New York, age 73, residing with their children. They spoke Pennsylvania Dutch and were noted for their sanitation and cleanliness. His property was described as 170 acres, with appurtenances consisting of a log dwelling house and a Switzer barn, bordered by the lands of John Shartle, henry Martin, Jacob Bean, and others. Adam is buried at Hetzels Church Cemetery in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. His date of death is uncertain.
MARY "POLLY" BILGER: Born in 1785 in Union City, Pennsylvania. Mary died July 17, 1853, in Pinegrove Township, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. She is buried at Hetzels Church Cemetery in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
