U.S. Congressman. Born in Ville Platte, Louisiana, he completed course in higher accounting from Louisiana State University in 1934, was a traveling auditor for the Louisiana State highway commission (1934-40) and was a Louisiana State representative at the national assembly for development of the civil defense program in Chicago, Illinois, in 1942. During World War II, he served in the US Army Air Force, (1942-46). After the war, he served as a Louisiana State budget officer and financial adviser to the Louisiana Legislature, (1948-52), chairman of the board of trustees of the Louisiana State employees retirement system (1947-53) and represented the US Department of Louisiana State in training foreign representatives in principles of democracy, (1950-51). In 1953, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-third Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 49 in an automobile accident at Gastonia, North Carolina.
