Patrick was born in Cubero and grew-up with his brothers and sisters in Grants. He enlisted in the Marines 3 January 1968 at the Albuquerque Recruiting Office.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 20 June 1968, Patrick was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Patrick died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile forces small arms fire, while on a combat patrol 6 kilometers west northeast of Dien Ban, during Operation Meade River.
Patrick was single and served his country for 11 months and was KIA# 35,362.
He had been in Vietnam for 5 months and 12 days.
Patrick was 20 years,3 months and 4 days old.
Survived by his parents, Melecio Salazar of Box 571, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Sylvia Salazar of PO Box 7388 Albuquerque, New Mexico and his brothers; Robert and Pat, his half-brothers, Tony and Rudy, Melecio and his sisters, Gloria and Rita of Grants, New Mexico.
