Jeremiah (Sank) Havard, the second child of Henry Harris Havard (1811 - 14 Apr 1877) and Tensy Caroline Denney (02 Apr 1812 - 22 Sep 1873) was born 11 May 1839 in Perry County MS.

He had two sisters and four brothers: Elizabeth Havard (1838 - bef 1880) who married William J. Culpepper (1830 - ), John W. Havard (1841 - ) who married Sarah (1840), Matilda Havard (1844 - ) who married James E. Culpepper (1849 - ), Henry Harrison Havard, Jr. (28 Oct 1849 - 06 Oct 1929) who married Eugenia Fredonia (Dennie) Davis (14 Aug 1850 - 27 Aug 1935), Alexander Singleton (Dunk) Havard (11 May 1850 - 20 Apr 1924) who married Martha Fannie Ferguson (1854 - 1903), and David W. Havard (Nov 1857 - ) who first married Sallie 1857 - abt. 1883) and married second Jennie (Aug 1869 - ).

He married Rhoda Catherine Page (02 Dec 1846 - 02 Jul 1927) daughter of Nehemiah J. (Mire) Page (08 Jan 1785 - 10 Dec 1863) and Elizabeth L. (Betsy) Crane (22 Dec 1805 - 22 Jun 1862) on 07 Dec 1865 in Homer, Angelina County, TX.

They had ten children: John Havard (20 Oct 1866 - 13 Dec 1939) who married Minnie Era Gossett (26 Oct 1869 - 13 Jul 1947), Ada Elizabeth Havard Cannon (30 Mar 1869 - 05 Mar 1949) who married William Logan Cannon (10 Dec 1849 - 06 Apr 1926), Ida Marie Havard McGee (27 Feb 1871 - 13 Jan 1965) who married Maximillian (Mack) McGee (1867 - 1947), Norman Page Havard (25 Feb 1873 - 09 Aug 1929), Charles (Charley) Harris Havard (17 Oct 1875 - 05 Apr 1951) who married Iva (Ivy) Jett (06 Jun 1878 - 16 Apr 1963), Willis Sank Havard (03 Feb 1878 - 08 Mar 1953) who married Mary Malissa Cole (08 Dec 1885 - 20 Jan 1945), Jeanette Jane Havard Lyon (15 Oct 1881 - 04 Dec 1937) who married Joseph Marion Lyon (24 Jan 1865 - 28 Aug 1926, Arthur B. Havard (25 Apr 1884 - 01 Nov 1886), Carrie Stella Havard (14 Nov 1887- 19 Dec 1887), and Clyde Johnson Havard (09 Jun 1890 - 24 Dec 1969) who first married Vera Ann McCain (12 Apr 1895 - 30 Jun 1980 and married second Nida Semenow (25 May 1910 - 29 Mar 1998).

The earlier part of his life, he lived in Mississippi. He came to Texas in the 1850s, in his teenage years, with his father, Henry Harris Havard and mother Tensey Caroline Denny and several other members of that family. They settled in Angelina County, TX. acquired land and built their home in Zavalla, TX

Jeremiah served in the Civil War with Quantrill's Raiders, and as the story goes, came home from the War with some gold. After coming home from the War, he married Rhonda Caroline Page. Rhoda had first married Charles D. Havard (1839 - 1864) a cousin of Jeremiah's who was the son of Thomas Havard, Sr. and Nancy Denny Havard. Charles had died during the later part of the Civil War.

Jeremiah and Rhoda married 07 Dec 1865 in Homer, Angelina County. They later moved to Shady Oak near Cleveland, Liberty County, TX and later acquired land on Tarkington Prairie and raised their family there. He was a farmer and also had cattle and hogs. He was a Mason and a long time member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

He and Rhoda were married for 53 years when he died at the age of 80. He died 12 Jun 1919 at Tarkington Prairie, Cleveland, Liberty County TX.
