Allen C. Hutcheson, Jr. was born in Jiaxing (Kashing), Zhejiang Province and spent his early years in China. When he returned to the U.S. he studied at the McCallie School in TN for one year and then went to The Hotchkiss School in Conn. to finish high school. From there he went to Princeton Univ. for two years, but at his parents insistence he transferred to Rice Univ. and graduated with a B.A. He took his law at the University of Texas. His subsequent years were spent working for Vinson, Elkins, Weems and Searls as General Counsel of Pure Oil Company in Olney and later Chicago, IL. He later was hired by the company and served as Secretary and VP. For relaxation and to get away from the stress Allen purchased and improved 30 acres in Barrington, IL. There he and the children were able to fish in his improved pond and hunt rabbits and pheasants. He had taught himself to play the piano & had a great intellectual curiosity about many things. On his last outing to his land he suffered a tightness in his chest. He was rushed to the hospital and died there a week later from a heart attack on Christmas Eve.
