Ephraim and Sarah's headstone was purchased and placed in Welch's Chapel Cemetery by some well-meaning Welch family members, but they did not thoroughly research the history before doing so ! The dates, and even names are absolutely wrong! It is very sad, and I'm sure it cost a lot of money.

The Bible of William Welch & Delilah Haney names Elizabeth MILLER as the wife of Ephraim, married 28 Feb 1792. This fact is supported by North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868, for the couple. David Welsh (sp) is given as the bondsman for the 1 Feb 1792 Surry County, NC bond.
